Our story
Giles Farnaby Music School grew from Giles Farnaby Piano School, established in 2018. What began with specialist piano teaching has grown into a multidisciplinary school and a wider community of musicians, teachers and families.
Founder and Principal Monika has undertaken advanced piano study with international concert pianist Prof. Grzegorz Niemczuk and is a Roskell Academy certified teacher and trainer. Her continuing professional development includes Timani - a specialist approach exploring anatomy, movement and healthy, efficient technique for musicians - alongside Open University study focused on children and teenagers.
Deputy Principal Paul studied at Birmingham Conservatoire and is an established composer, as well as an experienced pianist and teacher.
Our growing team includes musicians studying or trained at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and BIMM, alongside specialist instrumental teachers, professional performers and experienced educators.
More than music lessons
At Giles Farnaby Music School, learning music is about more than a weekly lesson. We develop technique, musicianship and creativity, while giving students the freedom to explore the music that inspires them.
From classical, pop, rock and metal to jazz, folk, musical theatre, film and game music, songwriting and playing in a band, students can develop their own musical identity while learning strong foundations.
Complete beginners through to advanced musicians are welcome. Learn for enjoyment, confidence, performance or personal development, or follow a structured route towards graded examinations and advanced study.
Exams are available for those who want them - they are not compulsory.

Lessons take place at Tudor House, where we're creating warm, characterful spaces that are inspiring and conducive to learning, alongside excellent instruments and contemporary facilities.
